Eggs are one of the healthiest foods. They come with lots of nutrients and essential for good health. Eggs are full with Carbs, protein and micronutrients; they are great in taste and one of the most popular foods around the world. Egg yolks and whites, both are very nutritious and excellent for the health. It is always a good idea to wash the eggs before cracking them to avoid any kind infections. Also, to destroy the bacteria eggs must be cooked in high temperature. Eating raw gees does increase the chance of salmonellosis risk.

Eggs Nutrition Facts:

Eggs are very good source of selenium, tryptophan, iodine, riboflavin, protein, molybdenum and Vitamin B12. In addition, eggs are rich in Vitamin B5, Vitamin D and phosphorous. Egg whites contain very small amount of carbohydrate and they are free of fats. But egg whites are excellent source of protein and provide other nutrients such as Vitamin B. On the other hand, egg yolks contain fat and cholesterol. But egg yolks are also great sources of other nutrients.

Health Benefits of Eggs:

Eggs are good sources of choline. Choline is excellent for the brain and memory and it is known as ‘memory vitamin.’ Choline also an important component for acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter that is a derivative of choline; released at the ends of nerve fibers in the somatic and parasympathetic nervous systems. Egg yolks contain good amount of choline and it is good for brain regulation.

Choline in the eggs is also good for reducing inflammation. Egg yolks are the richest source of choline and a diet combined of choline and betaine reduces the inflammation significantly.

Eggs are good for the heart health too. Choline is good for the heart as it protects blood vessels from any damage. Egg whites are cholesterol free and help to lower cholesterol levels.

Eggs contain carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin, these two help to prevent macular degeneration and cataracts. Eggs are good for the eyesight as they are rich in vision-protective carotenoids. Daily intake of egg yolk may reduce the chances of AMD or age-related macular degeneration.

Vitamins and minerals in eggs are good for the hair and nails too. Eggs are very important for skin care diet. Raw egg yolks are said to be very good to have beautiful hair. Eggs are high in sulphur and that promotes good hair.

Omega 3 fatty acids in the eggs are very helpful in preventing unwanted blood clotting. Omega 3 fatty acids reduce triglyceride levels, increase the levels of good HDL cholesterol and lower blood pressure levels.

Eggs are also helpful in reducing weight and can be a part of weight loss diet. Egg whites are good for weight loos; they are rich in protein and free of cholesterol.

Eggs are excellent health food and should be a part of regular diet. To get the maximum benefits one should buy the organic eggs. Daily consumption of eggs is generally good for the health but if there’s any health complication it is advisable to seek doctor’s advice.
